Endlicheri Bichir (Polypterus endlicheri)

Also known as the saddled bichir, it is an incredibly hardy, nocturnal species with very poor vision, P. endlicheri endlicheri relies on its excellent sense of smell to locate food. Bichirs are primitive fishes and one of few with lungs that functions equally as well in water as in air.
